We are excited to announce that Toni Collis will be joining the Appentra Team in January. She is a high performance computing specialist with extensive experience in providing HPC consultancy and support to academia and industry.
Toni Collis adds “I am delighted to be joining Appentra to help with the company’s Business Development, by bringing my HPC skills and passion for broadening access to parallel architectures to the business. Appentra’s products have the potential to bring HPC to new communities, providing training and software, in a way I have not seen before. I believe their products will lower the barrier to using HPC, reducing the perceived complexity of using modern hardware, bringing new groups and domains to parallel computing. They have the potential to democratise the use of parallel computing technologies and I am excited to be joining the team to help make that happen.”
In her role at EPCC, the University of Edinburgh supercomputing centre, Toni has worked on a range of academic and commercial projects. She has a passion for helping people gain access to HPC which has led her to providing training to academics across Europe, including specialist training for under-represented groups and new communities in HPC. Toni’s background in molecular modelling has led her to work on projects across the entire HPC application spectrum from facilitating the design of nuclear fusion reactors to bone modelling. In 2013 Toni co-founded Women in HPC (WHPC), which is now an internationally recognised initiative, addressing the under-representation of women working in high performance computing.
Toni is an active participant in the international HPC community. Her roles include sitting on the XSEDE Advisory Board and being part of the SC17 and SC18 conference Executive Committees as Inclusivity Chair.
Aside from drawing on Toni’s depth of technical input and experience, our new team member will be helping us to drive forward our plans to accelerate the market uptake of Parallware tools.
