The Galicia Supercomputing Center (CESGA) and Appentra Solutions will host the 4th CESGAHACK at the Galicia Supercomputing Center, in Santiago de Compostela, from 25th to 29th March 2019.
The five-day scientific hackathon aims to help scientists and application developers to answer more scientific questions by speeding up their application runtime, and reducing how long they spend coding the improved runtime.
Participants get access to the Finis Terrae II supercomputer at CESGA and a team of mentors that are experts in the optimization, parallelization and execution of HPC applications. Participants will also get to use Appentra’s Parallelware Tools Suite to speed up their development lifecycle by being able to quickly identify real opportunities to parallelize their application.
In previous CESGAHACK’s teams have been able to reduce their code runtime to nearly 1/50th of the starting runtime in just 5 days. Teams come from a wide variety of countries and backgrounds and have worked on everything from tsunami predictions at the University of Malaga to Xesol Innovation team working on the analysis of the biometric patterns of drivers to prevent road accidents.
“Reaching this level of work on our own it would have taken weeks of work and here we have achieved it in a couple of days.“ CESGAHACK17 participant
“We got further insight over hybrid MPI/OpenMP programming. This was achieved in a warm atmosphere with very fast and nice answers by mentors” CESGAHACK3 participant
Participation in CESGAHACK4 is free, but participants must apply online at https://goo.gl/forms/tlQWBimMeKfa0cqk2.
CESGA and Appentra encourage anyone with a scientific project that would benefit from faster code to participate to benefit from the individualized training that this unique environment provides, helping to move forward your development and save time in your software application runtime.
