Appentra is pleased to announce that it has joined ETP4HPC, an association led by European industries and research centers to define research priorities and action plans on a number of technological areas where achieving EU growth, competitiveness and sustainability requires major research and technological advances in the medium to long term.
Appentra is participating in the “Programming Environment workgroup” to update the ETP4HPC Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) during 2015.
As a matter of fact, computational science is the “third pillar” of modern science and engineering, increasingly based on more precise models, simulations and data. Just think about building human-brain models to fight against diseases like Alzheimer. And industry, especially manufacturing, oil and gas and pharmaceutical branches, relies more and more in HPC to innovate in products and services. Members of ETP4HPC include well-known corporations such as Intel, IBM, FUJITSU, DataDirect Networks and NVIDIA; specialised HPC SME’s such as Allinea; and leading European research institutions such as Fraunhofer, STFC and Inria are also well represented.
The goal of ETP4HPC is to help the development of HPC technologies and expand the user base, especially for small-to-medium businesses that have no dedicated computing resources or HPC experts. This goal is totally aligned with Appentra’s goals: we make HPC as easy as possible to researchers & engineers, by providing a solution that helps non-experts in HPC to focus on their core expertise.
Being involved in ETP4HPC will allow us to share with the other members our experience and expertise in HPC, and allow us to work together to provide more efficient and integrated solutions.
